Established in 2010, the Center for Media Research – Nepal (CMR Nepal) is an independent research and policy think tank dedicated to strengthening media development, democratic communication, and access to reliable information in Nepal.
We work at the intersection of research, policy engagement, information integrity, and journalist capacity-building — producing evidence-based studies and supporting initiatives that promote freedom of expression and credible public discourse.
Through sustained partnerships with journalists, media institutions, civil society, policymakers, international organizations, and academics, CMR Nepal contributes to a resilient information ecosystem where citizens can access trustworthy information and participate meaningfully in democratic life.

Publishes policy analyses, legal reviews, and research on media regulation — covering the Social Media Bill, Media Council Act, Cyber Security Policy, and federal and provincial media laws.
A broader civil society and governance policy platform providing research, commentary, and documentation of policy developments that affect media, expression, and the democratic public sphere.
Launched in partnership with Interlink Academy (Germany), the academy offers training in mobile journalism, data journalism, digital security, podcast production, and fact-checking techniques.
A nationwide program empowering citizens — especially youth — to critically engage with information. Includes teacher training, student workshops, MIL resource books, and school microgrant programs.
